Episode 8 – Are You Missing Clues to Your Superpower? (Part 2 of 5)

Hey teachers! Welcome back to Teacher Business Buzz, the only daily business show just for teachers. Today, we continue our series on finding clues to your superpower—your unique skillset or specialized knowledge that could be the foundation of a profitable online business.

Episode Highlights:

Meet Your Host: Tiffiny Webster, co-founder of TeacherBusiness.com, experienced K12 teacher and administrator, and top 10 charter school podcast host, helping teachers like you turn their strengths into an online business.

Tiffiny’s TpT Story: Starting as a TpT seller in 2011, Tiffiny discovered that while she wasn’t great at designing entire units, she excelled at decomposing others’ designs, teaching herself new skills, and synthesizing information into appealing and functional products. This journey revealed her true superpower: digital design and the ability to teach herself and others through hands-on learning.

3 Clues to Recognize Your Superpower:

  1. What You’re Good At:

• Identify the skills or activities that come naturally to you.

• Example: Tiffiny’s knack for making information look attractive and organized became a foundational strength in her business.

  1. Gravitation Toward Mastery:

• Notice what activities you keep coming back to and refining, even when you’re not trying. Mastery involves practicing and creating methods or systems for doing something better and faster.

  1. Consistent Results:

• When you can achieve results for yourself and others using a specific skill, that’s a strong indication of a superpower.

• Bonus: If you become the go-to person for a task, that’s another clue that you’re onto something valuable.

Recap:

Clue 1: Look for what you’re naturally good at.

Clue 2: Pay attention to activities where you strive for mastery.

Clue 3: Notice if you achieve consistent results for yourself and others.

Bonus: If people often come to you for help with a specific skill or task, you might have found your superpower.
